The Philadelphia Division, by letter dated September 22, 1966, furnished the Los Angeles Division with Issue No. 24 (July 1966) of Flying Saucers International, the official journal of the Amalgamated Flying Saucer Clubs of America, Inc. (AFSCA).

The Philadelphia Division received the magazine from Mr. Jarvis H. Cooper, IRS, 401 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 19, 1966. Mr. Cooper stated he subscribed to the magazine because his son had exhibited an interest in flying saucers and outer space. He said that on pages 2 and 3 of Issue No. 24 was an article which he believed expounded the Communist Party (CP) line.

For the information of the Bureau: the International Headquarters of the Amalgamated Flying Saucer Clubs of America, Inc. is located at 2004 North Hoover Street, Los Angeles, California. The article on pages 2 and 3 was allegedly written by one Kalen-Li Retzan, Head of Talez Korendor, and was received on May 8, 1966, by special directional short-wave radio by Bob Renaud.

The indices of the Los Angeles Division contain no information identifiable with Renaud, and no investigation has ever been conducted on the captioned organization. No further action is contemplated in this matter by the Los Angeles Office, unless advised to the contrary by the Bureau (UACB).

AFSCA Convention Message: "Bright World in the Hands of the Saucer Movement"

(Editor's Note: This special message was received from Master Kalen-Li Retzan — head of the planet Korendor, approximately 400 light years distant — on May 4, 1966, via special directional short-wave radio by Bob Renaud, the young electronic technician whose remarkable story was printed in Issues #18, 19, 20, 21, and 22.)

"Kalo (Hello), friends. We will get directly to the point of our message to you. Frankly, we are appalled at the state of Earth's affairs. Despite our constant warnings and even our actual intervention in some instances, the situation on your planet grows steadily worse.

One subject on everyone's lips these days is Vietnam. From a little civil war, it has grown steadily and inexorably into a clash of interests between the world's three major powers: the United States, Russia, and China — as you already know.

Many influential people have used the approach of patriotism and defense to twist decent human feelings into dangerous channels of demonic action, while men in capsules explore upstairs. Because their efforts — and even their covert activities — have been associated with the peace movement, that noble movement has been tainted and exploited.

Your government is a military puppet, a mere part of the military-industrial complex. Your senators, except for a few, are pawns of those who make a profit out of war.

We blame directly the Military-Industrial complex, which by opinion-control through the use of media maintains news management. In order to survive, a commercial medium — such as a newspaper or magazine — requires a vast amount of advertising. The mere subscription fees will not cover the costs. Thus, they depend for their continued existence on money paid by advertisers. Suppose, then, that the editor of a certain newspaper decides that he is opposed to the Vietnam policy, and says so in his paper. He suddenly attracts the attention of the power-masters. He is told, in so many words: 'Either you toe the mark and print what we want, or we withdraw our advertising.' Such pressures are a fact of life. The newsmen are not your servants anymore. They are subject also to the lower level of their physical needs.

We blame directly the Military-Industrial complex, which is preventing man from following his better instincts — through threats of force, economic pressure and retaliations, persecution, and other subtle and not-so-subtle means. In American life, this organization is, without question, the primary mouthpiece for the power-masters. We blame them for the death of our beloved John F. Kennedy, who was a great humanitarian. In his great humanitarianism, he was reluctant to 'toe the mark' — and he paid the supreme price for his efforts on behalf of humanity.

Make no mistake. Your government is not in the White House or the Congress. It is in the Pentagon and in the headquarters of the war 'defense'-oriented industries. It is they, not the President or the Congressman, who run the United States. The façade government is merely to delay suspicion of the people.

Examine another aspect of the Asian war: the economic aspect. Do you recall that in the stock reports, the Dow-Jones average dropped sharply after a halt in the bombing of North Vietnam? Does it suggest anything? The bombing resumed and stocks enjoyed a heavy rise. Your economy rests on a war footing. Armament production is such that if it were to stop, the United States economy would suffer a massive economic depression. Millions would be unemployed, sick, hungry, and unable to pay their bills.

A most appalling fact is this: War is profitable, highly so. Every major conflict has been associated with a period of great economic prosperity. Peace has usually been economically painful. After World War I, the nation coasted for a while upon the benefits of the war industry. Then came 1929, and the bottom fell out. After the Korean War, the post-Korean-war period was not prosperous. And after Vietnam? No one knows, and no one wants to find out.

Concerning the Korendorians themselves: we are able to increase our height while on Earth through a technical process related to teleportation — recording the atomic and molecular structures of our bodies and then reproducing them identically on a larger scale. Differences in skin color you notice are due to the computer which controls the reproducer.

Concerning our language: we generally use one of two languages. One is the Gailian speech of Korendor. On Korendor itself we speak the native language, Korendian, which belongs to our own culture. The other — Galingua — was, like yours, originally derived from Latin. Our Western Latin was originally derived from the languages of early space travelers. It is seldom heard now in our sector of space, as Galingua has replaced it almost completely. The method of instruction is simple; the Galingua speech is very rhythmic and has few arbitrary rules. The contradictions of your complex languages — such as the sounds of 'c' and 'k' — are minimized. It is a living, evolving language, and it is very pleasant to hear.

Even our writing is derived from Galingua. Open your minds and your hearts to this possibility and to others. Even modern English has roots on other worlds! Remember: you are not alone. Citizens of Earth, open your minds and hearts to the Brotherhood of the Galaxy: 'Don't waste time in senseless fighting and killing. To do so is to go against the universal order of the universe.'

At this stage where you have the very stars almost within your grasp, it would be ironic to spend futile hours warring with your brothers. We are part of a chain, and each link must take its place. Since you make your bed, so shall you lie in it. The decision does not rest with us.

Many of you fear Communism. Where did that fear come from? You think for yourself freely? No! It was brainwashed into you by the Military-Industrial complex. Did Communism design it all? No!

Many of you are New Age people, dedicated to the welfare of all mankind, with the vision and understanding of the vital role you play in building a better tomorrow — you must lead the way. You have the power, and you have responsibilities. The Flying Saucer Movement is not without purpose. Help it to grow until it is influential enough to serve its purposes. Go out to your communities. Guide the misguided, find the lost, and recover the straying. Do not be afraid when you are outnumbered — we will take two steps for their one. Do it now!

The time has come for nations to 'bury the hatchet' — shake hands and work for the future together, in co-operation toward mutual goals. The destiny of the people of this country is not in bleak atomic desolation, but in the magnification of everything you are and everything you do. Choose the right path and you will soon join your sisters and brothers from among the stars.

Civil Defense Director Watches 'Flying Saucer'

(Oakland Tribune) — Article on a Civil Defense Director who witnessed a flying saucer. Alongside: a report referencing an 1896 sighting in Erie, and witness testimonies — "I Know What I Saw!" — describing an "Egg-Shaped Craft." A broader report notes that more than five million people claim to have seen flying saucers.

"Kalo (Olá), amigos. Iremos diretamente ao ponto de nossa mensagem. Francamente, estamos consternados com o estado dos assuntos da Terra. Apesar de nossos constantes avisos e até de nossa intervenção direta em algumas instâncias, a situação em seu planeta piora continuamente.

Um assunto na boca de todos atualmente é o Vietnã. De uma pequena guerra civil, cresceu gradual e inexoravelmente até se tornar um choque de interesses entre as três maiores potências do mundo: os Estados Unidos, a Rússia e a China — como vocês já sabem.

Muitas pessoas influentes utilizaram a abordagem do patriotismo e da defesa para desvirtuar sentimentos humanos dignos em canais perigosos de ação demoníaca, enquanto homens em cápsulas exploram as alturas. Por causa de seus esforços — e até de suas atividades encobertas — estarem associados ao movimento pela paz, esse nobre movimento foi contaminado e explorado.

Seu governo é um fantoche militar, mera parte do complexo militar-industrial. Seus senadores, com poucas exceções, são peças nas mãos daqueles que lucram com a guerra.

Culpamos diretamente o Complexo Militar-Industrial, que por meio do controle de opinião através da mídia gerencia as notícias. Para sobreviver, um veículo comercial — como um jornal ou revista — necessita de grande volume de publicidade. As meras taxas de assinatura não cobrem os custos. Assim, dependem para sua existência continuada do dinheiro pago pelos anunciantes. Suponha, então, que o editor de determinado jornal decida que se opõe à política do Vietnã e o diga em seu jornal. Ele de repente atrai a atenção dos senhores do poder. É-lhe dito, em termos claros: "Ou você obedece e publica o que queremos, ou retiramos nossa publicidade." Tais pressões são uma realidade. Os jornalistas não são mais seus servidores. Eles também estão sujeitos ao nível mais básico de suas necessidades físicas.

Culpamos diretamente o Complexo Militar-Industrial, que impede o homem de seguir seus melhores instintos — por meio de ameaças de força, pressão econômica e retaliações, perseguição, e outros meios sutis e nem tão sutis. Nessa organização, a força motivadora primária da vida americana é, sem dúvida, o principal porta-voz dos senhores do poder. Culpamos essa organização pela morte de nosso amado John F. Kennedy, que era um grande humanitário. Em seu grande humanitarismo, ele relutou em "obedecer" — e pagou o preço supremo por seus esforços em prol da humanidade.

Não se engane. Seu governo não está na Casa Branca ou no Congresso. Ele está no Pentágono e nas sedes das indústrias de 'defesa' orientadas para a guerra. São elas — e não o presidente ou o congressista — que governam os Estados Unidos. O governo de fachada serve apenas para retardar a desconfiança do povo.

Examine outro aspecto da guerra asiática: o aspecto econômico. Você se lembra de que nos relatórios da bolsa, a média Dow-Jones caiu bruscamente após uma pausa no bombardeio do Vietnã do Norte? Isso sugere algo? O bombardeio recomeçou e as ações tiveram forte alta. Sua economia está baseada num pé de guerra. A produção armamentista é tal que, se fosse interrompida, a economia dos Estados Unidos sofreria uma massiva depressão econômica. Milhões estariam desempregados, doentes, famintos e incapazes de pagar suas contas.

Um fato de extrema gravidade é este: A guerra é lucrativa, altamente lucrativa. Todo conflito de grande escala esteve associado a um período de grande prosperidade econômica. A paz geralmente foi economicamente dolorosa. Após a Primeira Guerra Mundial, a nação se beneficiou por algum tempo da indústria de guerra. Então chegou 1929, e o fundo do poço. Após a Guerra da Coreia, o período pós-guerra não foi próspero. E após o Vietnã? Ninguém sabe, e ninguém quer descobrir.

Sobre os próprios korendorianos: somos capazes de aumentar nossa estatura enquanto estamos na Terra por meio de um processo técnico relacionado à teletransportação — registrando as estruturas atômicas e moleculares de nossos corpos e reproduzindo-as identicamente em escala maior. As diferenças de cor de pele que você nota se devem ao computador que controla o reprodutor.

Muitos de vocês temem o Comunismo. De onde veio esse medo? Vocês pensam livremente por si mesmos? Não! Foi lavado em seu cérebro pelo Complexo Militar-Industrial. Foi o Comunismo que planejou tudo isso? Não!

Diretor de Defesa Civil Observa 'Disco Voador'

(Oakland Tribune) — Artigo sobre um Diretor de Defesa Civil que testemunhou um disco voador. Inclui referência a um avistamento em Erie em 1896, e depoimentos de testemunhas — "Eu Sei o Que Vi!" — com descrições de uma "Nave em Formato de Ovo". Um relatório mais amplo indica que mais de cinco milhões de pessoas afirmam ter visto discos voadores.
